Best DVD video camera around $ 300?

Looking for a camcorder (DVD only) about $ 300 ... just to use for recording the family, everyday use. I would buy at Target / Walmart / Best Buy etc. Any suggestions? The only reason I want a DVD camera is B / C I do not want to convert flash to DVD to watch on my TV or convert tape to DVD to see it .... I do not think the issue - Only touching the children and family and see them.
