I want a new camcorder for christmas. Ill be filming extremem sports. It needs to be under 400 dollars(ebay), So far Im looking at a optura 10. Any other ideas?
Take a look at the PV-GS85 from Panasonic. It’s about $244 on amazon, and it’s got great zoom, and shoots widescreen! I think it’s great, I actually own a camera very similar to this one. (With a higher price)

am looking for a mini dv camcorder ti use to take footage of sports like motor racing etc.ive got about £250 ?
does anyone what the best one to buy that can cope with fast moving objects?? any info would be a great help thankss
There won’t be much difference in the camcorders in your price range. All will be 50 interlaced or 25 frames per second (PAL). The interlacing will not help at all. You would be better off with a camera that captures progressive frames. I think the least expensive is the Canon HV30 (at 24p or 30p).
The other issue you will have to deal with is audio. If you don’t have manual audio control, loud audio will overdrive the built-in auto mic gain. The audio will sound really scratchy and muddy. The HV30 (and Sony HDR-HC9) has manual audio control.
The HC9 did not make this short list because it does not do progressive frames.
The next camcorder in line that does progressive frames and has manual audio control is the Panasonic DVX100B. It does standard def only (the HV30 does standard def and high def). The camcorders that will meet your criteria “that can cope with fast moving objects” merely get more expensive.
