Best Camcorder for an aspiring film maker?
I know nothing about this type of stuff I need a last minute christmas gift for a young man I mentor. He is interested in film and documentary making. Please reccomend the best camcorder, highest quality picture available for $400 or less. Thanks.
Id suggest the Panasonic GS500 or the cheaper GS300 but they r still over the $400 budget tht uve set. If u r lucky, try look for Panasonic’s last years’ model the GS400 which is a fave among prosumers, some stores still sell them, mybe u could get it for around $400. These Panasonic cams have 3CCDs for a greater RGB color reproductions (normal consumer cams usuaally have only 1 CCD).
Whateva it is, buy a miniDV cam. Dont buy a DVD/Harddisk-based cam. MiniDV is a superior format, has a higher bitrate at 25mbps compared to 15 or less on DVD/Harddisk based cams.
Thts why the Pros r still using tapes (like a filmkmaker still using Films).
