Best hd camera to record a amateur film with a wide angle lens?
I want to make a short movie.
My camcorder is a Sony Mini DV Handy-cam (39E) and it does not have a wide angle lens. (And i think no external lens can installed on it)
I want to buy a new camcorder, this time i want to buy a High Definition Camcorder and i prefer to have a model with Hard Disk or SD card so i can transfer videos easily. Now, the point comes: I need wide angle !
What is the suitable camera model for me?
Wide angle lens, high definition, HDD or SD as media !
My budget is not more than 1000 dollars. A used one (in good condition) can also be accepted.

Page 113. This camcorder has a lens filter diameter of 25mm.
Check the lens area. There should be some threads to screw on a filter… or wide angle lens. Now using your favorite bowser, search “DCR-HC9″ “wide angle lens”
Did you know that the video captured by hard disc drive and flash memory camcorders are in a format different from that captured by your miniDV tape based camcorder? It may be easy to copy the files to the computer, but then you typically have two extra steps – first, create an archive copy of the video – this is so when you delete the video form the camcorder, but you want the video – and the project is long gone or the computer is long gone, you still have a copy… and, you need to convert the video to s format your video editor can deal with… With miniDV tape, assuming you are transferring over firewire, the tape is the archive and you import directly to the video editor – seems easier to me…
If you are still convinced that you need to use HDD or flash memory, please, at least go with flash memory. HDD cams have known problems with high levels of audio and vibration not allowing them to record video and cannot record in high altitudes. As well, data recovery after a hard disc crash can be very expensive.
If you are still convinced that you need to use HDD or flash memory, how about taking a look at what the bigger dogs use:

None have internal hard drives. Most are miniDV tape based. A couple (Z7, HVX200, GY-HMs) save to different kinds of flash memory to DV and HDV data format – just like consumer grade miniDV tape based camcorders do… and not to the formats that consumer-grade HDD and flash memory camcorders typically save to (mpg, mod, tod, AVCHD/MTS).
So… I would suggest the Canon HV40. DV/HDV to miniDV tape, mic jack and manual audio control… and you can find the wide angle lens for this your self… using “hv40″ “wide angle lens”.
