Canon Z20 Camcorder Tape Mechanism Problem?
My 5-year old digital camcorder uses MiniDV tapes. This morning, I put in a new tape. The mechanism opens fine and accepts the tape, but it doesn’t seem to know that I’ve put in a new tape to record. After I push close the tape compartment, nothing happens. The mechanism is supposed to retract into the camera.
Only after gently pushing pieces down there for about 10 minutes (not on the part that says “DON’T PUSH”) did it finally realize that a tape was there. I assume this is the start of the end for the camera unless someone can give me a really simple, cost-effective explanation of what happened.
The battery is OK.
