the small camcorder to get?
I'm wanting to get a small video camera that has decent sound quality. Ive found a few but they seem to have comments at once very good or very bad ... so if anyone has any experience with any of the cameras, please tell me what you think about it. Here are my choices Ive to shrink .. If you have any other suggestions feel free to post, but i cannot go very high in the price range, thanks. arrobins321 makes some good points about the perspective of the video quality ... who made a comment that was not addressed - specifically, "sound decent. Some say that no decent camcorder comes with microphones. I think that goes a little further and there are a number of factors. While I agree that it would not take microphones on a video camera and expected to behave as costly external microphones (like Sennheiser), I think it is possible to obtain useful audio recording camcorder microphone if the audio source is at a normal level - that is, not too soft and not too loud and the audio source - whether at a normal level - is more about 12 yards away. Note that most camcorders do not have manual audio level control, so they rely on a "level of audio Automatic / "gain of the circuit. It is constantly working to make audio and low audio stronger sharply. If the audio is too soft or no noise background at all, here the audio recorded with a characteristic hissing sound "sound as the automatic microphone gain audio works to find. If the audio is smooth and is beyond 10-12 meters away and there is no noise between the microphone and the audio source destination, built-in microphone pick up everything between the camera and audio source. And if the intended audio source is intermittent, then the multiple audio sources will become the focus of the camcorder mics. If the audio is really strong (bands, rock / hiphop / other loud amplified music, noise engine modification, etc. ..), the MIC circuit Automatic gain will not be able to keep making the muddy sound of recorded audio and cut a lot. Since miniDV tape continues to offer the best technology available video quality, I will stay there and let you answer arrobins321 trust ... The single consumer camcorders low cost with some control Audio - I have been able to find - are some of the Sony DCR-HC camcorders miniDV tape series. In your menu, there is a "Normal" or "Low" (High Audio) Gain selection of micro. There may be others out there, but have not found. The Canon ZR800 and ZR950 is low cost and have mic-in jacks, but not control manual audio cut himself / turbidity (and swooshing) will happen, even with an external microphone. The cheapest camcorders - of which I am aware that it has full manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9. They also have mic-in jacks, too. The alternative is to use an "instrument of field such as Marantz, M-Audio, Zoom or Fostex (among others) and use the audio control field manual recorder - then replace the audio from your camcorder with the audio field recorder when editing video. So ... if audio is neither strong nor soft and the subject of video (and therefore the subject of audio) is between 3-12 meters away in 'normal' light (not "low light") will be fine. Go out of any of these limits and changing rules - requiring teams different characteristics and features.
Two big problems with digital camera, a matter of Canon lenses and an image sensor defect found in many different business models are still affecting homeowners, but are drawn entirely different company responses.
The long "E18" controversy, the name of an error that appears when the objective and can not extend or retract, is at the forefront again. Users with Canon point and shoot, including the A and SD product lines, have complained of the problem.
Canon has not reported any defect with the cameras and usually does not pay to repair affected cameras who are out of warranty.
In marked contrast, a number of companies say they have a defective image sensor in different camera models and offer warranty repairs for free off. Canon, Fujifilm, Konica Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Ricoh, Sony and all service advisories have been issued on defective CCD cameras older video cameras, and camera-enabled PDAs that result in drastically smeared or blurred images. Error E18
Tony Hartshorn from Santa Barbara, California, says he "loves" using his Canon PowerShot A70. But when the camera was about two years, sporadic E18 errors increased to the point that the barrel of the lens was aligned incorrectly and could not withdraw properly, Hartshorn wrote in an e-mail.
Canon expects that "cut a break", he says, because of the large number E18 complaints on the Web. But when he sent his off-camera to Canon for warranty repair, the company offered to either fix his A70 for $ 108 or sell a renewed A75 (a slight upgrade) for the same price. He opted to repair the camera, and "no explanation [for the problem] accompanied by the camera repaired, "Hartshorn said in his e-mail. But he says he got the impression during conversations with representatives from Canon that something like dust or sand had gotten in the space around the barrel.
Canon says the E18 error appears when nothing prevents the lens from properly extending or retracting. For example, the lens can freeze or stick, if a camera is subjected to an external shock or any substance (liquid, sand or earth) filters in the unit, says the company. Or, if a camera is turned on, while inside a bag and something prevents the lens extraction, a user could be affected, Canon says.> / p>
It is not our fault users say
The current controversy centers around Canon camera owners, who insist that was not the cause of their problems and feel camera Canon should fix problems for free. They have made known their stories in a series of Internet user forums and blogs, including those from Digital Photography Review Imaging Resource, and the area of juggling.
To help keep your camera problem-free, Canon recommends not touching the lens or its surrounding areas. The company also suggested to make sure the power is off before storing your camera in your case.
If you get hit with the dreaded E18 error, and turning the camera and again does not deal with it, Canon suggests contacting the store where you purchased the unit, taking the nearest service center or call Canon Technical Support at 800/828-4040.
If the camera is still under warranty and you need to send it to Canon technical support from the company says it will examine the problems of E18, case by case basis whether the warranty covers repairs. But if the warranty has expired, you will pay.
ConsumerAffairs.com reported that last fall at Chicago law firm of Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates filed a class action on behalf of camera owners affected by the E18 problem. Neither Canon nor the law firm would comment on pending litigation. A San Francisco-based law firm, Girard Gibbs & De Bartolomeo, also is investigating the matter.
Another problem that hits a camera range of cameras that were manufactured between 2002 and 2004 with strong local heat and humidity. Sensors defective image can malfunction, causing the unit to produce badly distorted or faded photos. Konica Minolta Web site has samples of pictures taken with sensors defective.
If your camera has or develops this problem, manufacturers typically offer free repairs, even if the warranty has expired. However, some companies set an end date for repair. Sony, for example, will provide free repairs on the CCD problem until 2 October 2007. If you already had paid to correct this mistake before the warning was issued, it may be eligible for a refund. In addition, technical support, Olympus says will automatically replace affected cameras with certain serial numbers, even if the product has not experienced any problems.
