What kind of camcorder do I need? DVD, mini DV or HD?
I need a video camera that can easily add special effects, good looking video recording, something that good works in lighting dark, and more than $ 600. Basically, I need a good camera that I make films. I've been working with a digital camera to date and its very easy just drag and drop the video onto my computer I can add all the effects, the problem is that video is not that great looking ... so, once more, I need a camera that can record video and then I pretty easily add effects to it without messing me up format. As if the AVI or MPEG video .. it would be very easy for me to add effects to it, but if the DVD or something like that do not want the trouble of converting and degreading the qualaty. So what would work best for me: DVD, mini DV or HD (high definition)? Lighting has to be good in it too ...
If you want a camera good enough for under $ 600, miniDV is probably your best bet. You can go to HD, but the only one going to get is probably high resolution, but low quality. Without But that said, good HD cameras are getting cheaper. The only thing is that you will need a fairly powerful computer with at least a 3.4 GHz P4 and 1 GB of RAM. If you to be able to get another camera in a year or two, then I wait and have a HD camera later. MiniDV is not as efficient as flash cameras, because the real matter of time of capture, but other than that, it's great, once you have it on your computer. One thing you can do now to make your video look slightly better for bump the contrast, or if you have a program like After Effects AE (labs.adobe.com has free downloads and Premiere Pro CS3 Preview), you can apply an effect curves and the use of S-curve form of a cinematic tone base, or adjust the individual channels for even more options. The only caveat is that if you use curves or the opposite effect, noise and artifacts will be more sensitive. Of course, this problem will be reduced with Mini DV, but not entirely. Hope this helps!
