Greetings, Great question! And it also included enough information ... Standard DVD: You do not need or want to HDV. It is beyond the price range anyway. A camcorder for you would be the Canon ZR800. It is listing for $ 190 to BHphoto.com (see link below) and includes a microphone input! (As at 22 December 2007 has free shipping.) That leaves enough money to get a microphone for sale and will to get some lights for recording.
