Should I be worried that the purchase of HD?
I have been trying to find the best HD camcorder for the money - and almost decided to buy the Canon Vixia HF11, but I've been reading review after review, and looks like a ton of people have trouble editing and conversion. I do not have an HD-DVD (or Blue Ray, for that matter) or my HD-DVD/Blue ray PC. I have a Intel Pentium D Dual Core 3.0 GHz with 3.5 GB of RAM - that will be good enough to edit the videos? If I wanted to make a DVD for the family, which should convert SD video to get it so everyone can watch on their DVD players (as how much can I lose? other issues with this) - but uploading to YouTube and others could be done in HD. Should I buy a SD video camera and have no concerns about conversions and editing problems? If that's the case ... I have no idea which camcorder to buy - I want a good quality video to record videos of my new baby growing! What to do ???????
Do not be afraid of getting an HD camcorder. Yes they have great processing power to modify the videos. Your computer should be OK, if you can adding more RAM, and if you have some money available to get another hard drive to use for video editing (virtual disk) will accelerate the process. If you use editing package to edit video directly from the camera much better, as video conversion lose quality, but to reduce this license conversion end to the moment you put on your DVD (not blue ray DVD standard), then, will achieve the best results. Another advantage to get a camcorder High definition is that prices are falling all the time for Blue Ray team, so give it some time and most people will be able to afford afford to convert. also leave the video on their new album when you can turn back to doing the videos in full HD. A little word of advice, do not try to use anything but the best camera settings. There are free editing packages around, but the old story you get what you pay! Sony Vegas is good, I like Premiere, but that is a very progressive starvation, 3GB of RAM minimum.
