Similar to TOD, MOD is a type of recording format used in digital tapeless camcorders such as JVC, Panasonic, Canon. MOD video format is comparable to XDCAM EX, HDV and AVCHD.

MOD is used exclusively for file standard definition video, while TOD is used for high definition files. Both MOD and TOD are file-based formats that are stored in a random access media.
