How to reduce the file size to transfer video from camcorder to PC? Thanks?
Hello I have bought Panasonic GS300 3CCD Camcorder and try to copy video from DV Cassette to computer running Windows XP using Firewire with Quick Movie Magic software. For the transfer of 1 minute of video, is taking over 400 MB of disk space and storage in *. avi. Can you help me reduce the file size to store. 1 min video taking 400MB is a lot. Thanks a lot
which may not realize is that when you go to transfer the video via FireWire, which is really doing is making an exact copy of video data, is a perfect copy without loss of quality, as if a document copyied words. The reason the file size is so large is because its bandwidth is 25Mbits/Sec the MiniDV standard for all, do not consider this (its already comressed) and compression of 5:1 is considered heavy. What can be done is, dectection import scene, this will cut the video into scenes (Everytime engraved pressed stop and back) that way you can quickly eliminate the scenes that do not want then "scrub down" Scene remaining then you can apply some sort of scene transitions and establish an audio track and finish, then just to make the desired format (MPEG2) to make movies.
