good camcorder for riders?
I’m a horseback rider and I really want to get a good quality camcorder to have video footage of my rides. Naturally, it will be exposed to a somewhat dusty environment and must be durable.
I’ll probably need to set it on a chair or fence post so it needs to be able to stand on its own or be compatible with a tripod.
I would also like it be small/pocket size.
I’ve recorded with my digital camera but the video quality is not as good as I’d like.
I don’t plan on recording while I’m riding but having it record me and others riding.
It would be easier and safer to use a helmet cam while riding a horse. But since you want to shoot off horse too, then look at some of the pocket camcorders.
The Kodak Zi8, VadoHD, Sony Bloggie and Sony Webbie, and the Flips by Pure Digital are all flat box-shaped cams (Lens centered). The Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 is a pistol-grip shaped cam, which may be easier to handle riding on a horse.
