Great looking minidv camcorder video footage?
Who knows of a clip of something really well lit, basically just a really good looking image, that was shot on a CONSUMER-GRADE < $300 CAMERA? I want to see the bar for what this baby can do...
I’m not asking what camera has the best quality/potential. I want to find a clip of something that looks about as good as you can get with this caliber of camera.
Note: don’t mention something like the movie OPEN WATER, where they shot it w/ natural lighting, then blew it up to 35mm drastically enhancing the quality. I think I covered my bases to weed out worthless answers, thanks 
Thanks for sending that, Little Dog, but I would hardly say that qualifies as the upper-most end of what these cameras can do. I meant with control of lighting, even post-production tinkering, how good can it look. I shot this recently with no lights:

This was shot with a Canon Elura 60.
Watch it in high quality.
The Elura 60 is a 4-5 year old miniDV camera. ~$300 when new. Check the specs at the canon.com support area. Nothing extra was used. I did not have anything to do with the video – I just know someone who worked on it. Presume newer camcorders in the same price range are at least as good, likely better. Selections include Canon ZR900, ZR930, ZR960… All of these cams also have a mic jack – nothing else new in the price range does (at least… not from Sony or Panasonic).

Shoot in proper light
Among the tips that you need for getting a good film done with a camcorder is the lighting of your shot. Take care to shoot in proper lighting or else, you will end up with grainy pictures. The best way to overcome poor lighting is to shoot outdoors which can provide the right conditions even on a cloudy day. Check out the light and your best bet would be to shoot very early in the morning or late in the afternoon for getting the best results.
Mount on a tripod
There are tripods that are available for $30 and you can use them to mount your camcorder. It secures your camera and you can also perform artistic pans and zooms and include your self as well during the shoot. Do not rely on the digital image stabilization feature as it lowers the video resolution. If you are shooting indoors, open the blinds and allow enough light to stream in. You can also turn on the overhead lights and lamps and also use a shoe mounted light if required.
Avoid digital zoom
Do not use digital zoom as it again would give a grainy video. By increasing the digital zoom level, the cam will crop to the center of the image making the remaining portion extremely large. Your best bet would be to turn off the digital zoom from inside the menu system of your camera. Instead, you can go for the optical zoom that relies on the lens for magnification and rely more on your feet as expert photographers will tell you for filming your newborn.
