What is the best way to make video look like film?
I have a video camera Mini-DV and am interested in making my own shorts. I would like to know how to emulate the look of the film as close as I can because it is a far superior product compared to images shot in DV.
This is one of the things I've been trying to do. I was able to make it look more as film, but I do not think anyone has been able to do exactly as DV movie (unless you are recording in a camera or some other with the DVX100 24p gamma-ray checks, and even then, you can still say it's the video.) Most importantly, in my opinion, that creates the film look is the speed of frames. Not a lot of cameras can shoot 24p/30p, but if you have a fake video so that it looks pretty good with this will save a lot of benefit time. Note, however, that usually decreases the image quality, but not always. In general, you should be able to tell the difference when changing between the normal modes of film and (O 24p/30p and 60i), so while the movement is less like the normal video, are good. The next part I usually do is to increase contrast or adjusting the curves. If you do not really care, then I usually just increase the contrast to a point where it looks pretty good, but few details is still intact. If I can adjust the curves, a quasi-s usually make the video look better as well. I will also increase or decrease the saturation, if necessary, and usually then we'll see pretty good. Not quite as film, but less like video and type of a look in the middle.
