Device works fine, but it came with sketchy instructions on how to capture to PC.

USB video/audio capture

The video portion works fine but the audio is badly distorted. I found that I could by-pass the audio input and connect it straight into my computer’s audio line in and record what I wanted.

It DOES work on Windows 7 64-bit

by Matt C. from on 2010-07-08
This product works quite well, and it does work on Windows 7, both 32-bit and 64-bit. To get it to work on those two systems this is what you do:

Follow this link:

Watch the youtube video and follow that guy’s instructions, there are links in the description of the video for the drivers. Once you are finished it should work perfectly fine because it works awesome for me and I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my laptop. Hope this helps for those of you who are wondering how to get it to work on windows 7. Let me know if you have problems and I will try my best to help you out. Thanks.

Don’t waste your money

There is a reason why this is so cheap. Before you think of buying this read up on the internet about how many problems people have with this. The audio feed does automatically appear as an option for a capture. With much tinkering I got the option. Using the option messed up the time stamp on the video and resulted in unusable clips. When I did manage to get the audio it was garbled. Setting the recording device just reduced the volume and did not remove any stray noises.

For what I use it for, it works great.

I sometimes set up live Internet broadcasts of local arts-related events, and I wanted a product that I could use to transmit a live video feed through a USB port. To that end, it worked magnificently, although I couldn’t get two of them to work at once. The audio and video quality is adequate, but not great. I wasn’t using the camera audio for the broadcast, and I keep my live streams low-res so the video won’t be glitchy or out of sync with the audio stream. So for me, it didn’t matter that the quality wasn’t the “best.” I use Windows 7, and it recognized and installed the drivers with no difficulty. As long as you’re not too fixated on quality, this product does the job. For captures from VHS or other analog video sources, however, I’d reccomend getting a Hauppauge TV Tuner card. It’s a little more expensive, but there is a notable improvement in the video and audio quality over this device.
