Need help with an old Hitachi VM-3700A VHS camcorder (circa 1994).?
I have an old Hitachi VM-3700A VHS camcorder circa ‘94. The batteries are fried and no longer charge. I don’t have the AC/DC Adapter any longer either. I haven’t used the camera in many, many years, but it still has a tape in there and I’d love to get it out to see what’s on it. How can I get the tape out without breaking the camera open? Any tricks or special buttons I missed?
I am not familiar with that exact model, however, there are a few options:
You can get the old battery out, yes? Sealed battery, yes? On that battery you will see the volts/amps. If you put together a battery set up with the same specs, you can get the juice to open the camcorder.
How? Volts+Volts=sum of volts (1.5+1.5=3, etc.) Amps stay the same (200mah+200mah=200mah).
Go to Radio Shack or Fry’s to get a plastic battery holder (a few dollars). Combine enough batteries to = your needs, touch contacts on camcorder, open.
Your other option is a definite fix and maybe enjoyable, too. –Take the camera apart.
Face it…VHS is out of date and a pain to work with. If you think you will salvage this camcorder for more use, you are wasting your time and money. Everything is going/gone digital.

Be ready to repair the battery yourself
Machine to remove books from the battery, the battery model shown above is 75UYF, capacity is 3800MAH, origin for the Japanese. In WINDOWS XP to view the battery information is displayed as: JVC Camcorder Battery HITACHI Camcorder Battery 865PANASONIC CGR-B/838, apparently this battery is sure to use Panasonic batteries battery. Then immediately went to Computer City, ready to repair the battery yourself. His books of the situation and the maintenance workers described a moment to the conclusion that want to change batteries, the price to 300 yuan, and the books I can not guarantee life time. After much consideration, I feel that the cost of maintenance of relatively large, and no protection, they decided to resolve it by themselves. With little knowledge of the battery, I think the battery life suddenly becomes shorter, probably due to the aging batteries, coupled with the recent cold weather, leading to sharp decline in endurance capacity. And want to change batteries without the only way to continue to use only fully discharged the charge, repeated several times to activate the battery.
Fault find
I will be after the battery is full, disconnect the power supply, the normal use of books. Lack of books prompted the automatic shutdown after the power is still forced to boot in order to fully discharge. But so I was very surprised that, after forcibly boot the machine and not because of electricity shortages, automatically and immediately shut down, the opposite has used nearly 20 minutes before automatically shut down due to power exhaustion, and in the forced boot after battery has been show at 2%, before and after this value has not changed a bit.
In determining the remaining battery power can no longer boot after I started charging the battery. The charging time is no longer a short 5 minutes, but the normal charge for 20 minutes, and consistent with previously normal charging time. Through this operation, I found the battery did not damage the core, but the aging batteries (also possible that the internal circuit aging) cause voltage instability and thus the computer can not sense the battery’s remaining capacity is at less than the value of a system set Automatic shutdown or standby time of change. This time the battery charge can not be completely exhausted, so the boot can still run again for some time. (Charging time can be short enough to prove it.)
