How important is a wind filter in a camcorder?
I'm shopping for camcorders and it seemed a good model, the Sony HDR-SR11 but has no wind filter. I want to shoot some short movies with friends and wondered how important the wind filter. Also I hear it isn't 1080p. Can someone clear this for me? Also as I believe the Canon HG 10 or Canon HF 100 is best to buy? These 3 are what I'm thinking, but now I'm leaning towards the Sony. advice?
The best filter is a natural wind. The one on the menu camera is an electronic one. The electronic filters cut wind noise by removing all sounds above a certain frequency, and this may remove the sound you are trying to record. In addition, wind filters are only required if filming outside moderate to strong winds. If you are recording Inside, are not necessary unless you're recording next to a fan of wind or ventilation.
