What’s the best digital video editing program to use with a Sony Handycam Camcorder?
Already discovered that I can’t use Windows Movie Maker with the format that the video is captured with on the Sony Handycam, unless I go thru a very lengthy and bulky conversion procedure that I don’t have time for. Would like to know if anyone else owns a Sony Handycam camcorder (particularly a DCR-SR45 model) and what digital video editing program they use to create movies with audio, transitions, effects, etc.
Vegas is a great editor, but it’s a prosumer level product – you’d be better off with Vegas Movie Studio. Projects created with VMS can be opened with Vegas if you want to upgrade, and the upgrade cost is just the price difference between the two.

I used to have this video editing program that let me put pictures over video. I lost it and I forgot what its called. Help!
