What is the best type of mini DV camcorder, DVD or HD
My recommendation is to use a mini DV camera. here are some things you should consider: first, look at the budget and then work the best you can get for the money spent. try to steer clear of second-hand units, as they are a problem usually more than they're worth. Second, decide on a format to suit your style. most people are getting hard drive cameras without considering the consequences of design. I will continue using the Mini DV tape, I to the end, as I think they are still the best format for low budget film decisions. be used in many high-definition cameras and offer better archival storage and far superior picture quality compared to DVD and HDD. stick with mini DV - you can not miss. (BTW mini DV only comes in 2 sizes - 60 minutes or 80 minutes - although you can set the cam to shoot long play and 90 minutes + On tape, but not worth it - always shoot SP) in third place - What type of shot you would like to do? Interior study? or outdoor sporting events, so many cameras are good for you, but might be missing for the other. try to find something that suits your needs and work out functions that may be helpful. eg - Night vision sounds great but is very unlikely that you use it regularly. but if we find something decent mic and sound separately controls it is possible that much more useful. consider the applications, decide the format and see how much to spend. make a short list then try them out. PS - I use a Sony HVR-v1p. I'm impressed. seems super 16mm film!
